1. Description
We were a group of 5 people, working on the specification of a software that we were developing for a client.
2. Feelings
I was feeling excited because I was a new member in the team, and the only one with more practical experience in software development process. So, I was eager to contribute a lot.
3. Evaluation
3.1. Positive
The team was young so was easy to talk with everyone, also everybody seemed also very excited about the project. There was a sense of mission, of commitment with the project and the client. The manager was always very professional and cared about each individual team member.
Even though there were positive aspects, there were also bad one.
3.2. Negative
The senior members did seem to know what they were doing, but also, they were not willing to easily listen to me, a professional that was hired because the lack of software developing skills inside the organization.
4. Analysis
The fact that the senior manager did not seem to know what they were doing was understandable because that was the first software project that going to be developed in-house. Maybe there were not willing to listen to me because I did not express my ideas in a more persuasive manner.
5. Conclusion
That was a very good experience because was my first time working for a large organization but in a small team. Working in team is never easy, you have to make an effort to adjust your behavior to make yourself understood.
6. Action Plan
For the next meetings I will be willing to listen and try to understand other people position, try to put myself in their shoes first. And from that point vocal my opinions. I believe that will make people more receptive to my suggestions.
