RW Act #4 – Random Reflection

1. Reflection

This is a reflection on a document presented in Unit 2 about the reasons why poor countries have fewer banks.

This is very interesting to me because I live in what is considered a developing country, and currently working in social protection sector as an IT.

2. Analysis

One of our issues is the transfer of cash to the poor as a social protection policy, and the fact that the areas where the the vulnarable people live dont have banks as come up many many times.

I never really thought about all of the possible reasons why banks are so scare in these areas, the only reason I could come up was the fact that in order for a person to have a bank account he/she needs to know how to write.

3. Action

This paper just made me realize the fact the amount of knowledge that are in papers. Coming from a technical background I was more interested in programming languages, design patterns, algorithms, etc. and was never a fan of reading papers like this.

Because I moving to a more business, strategy side I have to read more papers, because that will give me a more holistic understanding of the problems that people face regarding information system.

I am going to create a plan of action to read more papers, starting from the ones presented in the units and then from others sources.
